JFSLA Empowers Adults with Disabilities to Thrive in the Workforce
LOS ANGELES — October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month used to recognize the contributions people with disabilities make to the workforce.
However, getting that job can be the biggest hurdle and that is where the Jewish Family Service LA organization is stepping in.
Their Special Needs Life Skills Program, helps Angelenos with disability over the age of 18 gain the confidence and skills needed to nail the job interview and stay employed.
Participants receive mentorship and volunteer opportunities where they practice job skills such as working with others, solving problems, being on time and executing tasks.
The participants also get help with building their resume and have interview workshops as they prepare to apply for jobs.
