THE JFS INTERNSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM
INTERNSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM
The Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles Internship Training Program offers an outstanding training opportunity for developing clinicians. JFS Pico-Robertson Counseling Center treats a diverse client population of all ages and compositions, including couples and families. Interns may work in our counseling center and public and private schools. Additionally, we offer expertise in working with victims of domestic violence and special needs children and their families, and in parent education and support.
Our training program provides intensive individual and group supervision, as well as education and training by experts in the field. Individual supervision is provided by JFS clinicians that are licensed in the intern’s specific discipline, whether MFT, LCSW or Ph.D./Psy.D.
Training and supervision are offered in short-term evidence-based practices, as well as psychodynamic models of therapy. We are privileged to have Dr. Lee Lainer on our team; she provides a monthly consultation group for interns, grounded in modern psychoanalytic and psychodynamic models, to further enrich interns’ learning opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Interns must have either completed a master or doctoral degree in psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy and be working toward licensure. Advanced practicum students or pre-doc interns are also eligible to apply.
Interns are asked to make a 20 hour a week commitment for a period of one year (September – August). We require interns to be available one evening a week.
MFT and MSW interns will be required to obtain a BBS number and post-doctoral interns need to be registered with the BOP before commencing training.
