Counseling & Support

Professional therapists from JFS provide counseling and mental health intervention services for children, teens, adults, couples, and families going through life transitions. Our services are provided in a warm, open manner, sensitive to all cultures and backgrounds, and are offered on a sliding fee scale.

Food & Hunger

JFS strives to address the growing problem of hunger in Los Angeles by providing a wide array of programs and services for the community. Through our SOVA food pantries, JFS provides free groceries and supportive services for families and individuals who struggle daily with issues relating to food insecurity. JFS also delivers meals to homebound older and disabled adults, serves nutritious kosher meals at 11 “dining centers” located around Los Angeles, and gives emergency food vouchers in times of crisis.

Shelter Services

JFS provides shelter for both homeless families and battered women and their children. Emergency and transitional shelters meet families’ needs, while shelter services and programs give them the tools to achieve long-term independence. To help address the issue of domestic violence, we also provide a 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling, case management, advocacy, and education.

Older Adult Resources

JFS cares deeply for the health and well being of older adults and provides them with an array of services, with the goal of helping them remain healthy and active. Our local neighborhood centers offer friendly, easy access throughout Los Angeles county, where we feature recreational activities, educational programs, and community-based care services, including essential mental health services, care management, and social services.

Disability Services

In addition to providing counseling, case management, and general information, JFS also offers support groups, social activities, and independent-living skill courses to people living with a wide range of abilities. We also refer clients to other specialized benefits offered through JFS, including home-modification device installation, personalized door-to-door transportation services, and home-delivered meals.
